01
Start with the pump and seal configuration
- Use the nameplate and serial number to identify the pump and its seal arrangement before selecting parts.
- The reference covers LKH variants, SolidC, i-CP, FM-OS, GM, LKH Prime and MR. Confirm the instructions for the actual unit.
- Distinguish single shaft seals, flushed single seals and double mechanical seals; flushing checks apply only to the relevant arrangements.
02
Establish a healthy operating baseline
- After commissioning, confirm stress-free installation and operation without cavitation before recording vibration readings.
- Compare future bearing temperature and vibration readings with the baseline. A rise may indicate bearing deterioration.
- There is no universal normal bearing temperature in the guide: ambient conditions and duty matter. It notes that temperatures above 100°C significantly shorten grease life.
03
Service seals and bearings together with the records
- Replace the shaft seal and O-rings together when renewing the service kit.
- For a worn motor bearing, follow the motor instructions for replacement and axial locking.
- Some bearings are permanently greased; others need relubrication. Use the motor manual for the bearing type, lubricant and interval.
Service planning at a glance
Reference intervals and checks from PDF pages 7–9. Verify against the instructions for your unit.
| Component / check | Reference timing | Planning note |
|---|---|---|
| Cleanliness, unusual noise and maintenance log | Weekly | Keep the pump protected from its environment. |
| Shaft-seal leakage and applicable flushing flow | Weekly | Check the installed seal arrangement. |
| Motor / bearing temperature and vibration; head and flow | Monthly | Trend readings against normal operation. |
| Motor bearings; internal wear and pitting | Half-yearly | Inspection table on page 8. |
| Service kit, shaft seal and O-rings | 12 months | Replace the seal and O-rings together. |
| Motor-bearing inspection | Yearly recommendation | Page 8 also lists half-yearly inspection; resolve the schedule using the motor manual and duty. |
The reference contains both half-yearly and yearly motor-bearing inspection guidance. Keep that distinction visible when agreeing the plant schedule.
